Dhanya Namboothiri

Hi, I am Dhanya Namboothiri, a fashion illustrator, educator and fine artist. There is nothing more to be grateful for in life than our passion turning out to be the profession. Saying that I would also like to add the fact that there were some interesting twists and turns in my journey.

From my childhood, I was inclined towards sketching, painting and other creative activities. But while growing up I was not confident in my art or even did not think of pursuing it as a profession. Took my graduation in physics, got married and settled with kids and family.

In my free time, I used to do some self-study in canvases and watercolours. But didn’t have a direction. Thus after a long gap of eleven years, I started learning fashion design and also took masters in it. This helped me in discovering my capabilities in the design field. After finishing my fashion studies, I started practising more and experimenting with my sketches and designs. This was the real turning point. I was trying out things and started improving in each of my work on illustrations and canvas paintings. Thus started freelancing for several brands including few International designers for illustrations.

Even though I use different mediums throughout my works, watercolour attracts me the most. Despite being technically complicated, its transparency, unpredictability and natural flow have always excited me.  I love a realistic approach in my illustrations merging my style and touch of aesthetics and simplicity. I always like to educate and inspire upcoming fashion students, art aspirants and make them confident with their works.
